September 19, 2000:     The fourth LHHL Award was presented to Rev. James Hewes at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, in recognition of his frequent, public advocacy of the unborn, pivotal role in establishing Project Rachel; ticket price was $25. That program is now national, open to men and women of all faiths, needing a confidential, non judgmental process of healing, reconciliation and transformation following abortion. A video, used in the program, was later trimmed to just the Project Rachel coverage, and has become a well used publicity tool for the program across the state. Father Hewes, as a college chaplain, had also established strong and numerous relations with college age students with whom he established numerous programs. Sponsorship and co-sponsorship were unchanged with attendance approximately 275. This event was particularly successful in leading to increased publicity for Project Rachel and an increase in requests for service.
